Today we went to the forest to collect more data about our ant mount (BB). Today we had to measure different things related to the trees near our mount. We measure everything in 10 different steps. The first three steps were to identify what types of tree were the three closest to our mount and the circumference and the distance from the tree to the mount.
After looking at the leaves and touching them we came with the conclusion that the closest tree is 220 cm far from the mount, has a circumference of 221cm and it's a larch tree. The second closest tree is 370cm away from the mount, has 120 cm of circumference and it’s a pine. The furthest one is 580 cm away, has a circumference of 133cm and it’s a larch.
We also collect data saying that our canopy cover is of 5%, the green ground cover is of 35%, and the activity level was really low, just a few ants were moving outside the mount (3 out of 10). We also measured the height of the mount (70 cm) and the diameter of the colony (380 cm).
These are some pictures that we took while we were using some methods to collect data
